Our Story

In 2017, a group of northern Virginia-based businessmen and women were traveling through economically-distressed areas of rural Virginia, and asked themselves: "How can business respond to the economic needs of these communities in a sustainable, market-driven, and socially conscious way? And how can urban business profit from sharing employment with rural areas?"

Wize Solutions is the answer to that question.

Wize Solutions is focused on workforce development, reinvestment, and economic prosperity in rural areas of Virginia. Working alongside the Virginia Community College System and other higher education partners, Wize Solutions trains employees to provide a full range of remote IT support services to companies located throughout Virginia and beyond. Simply put, we aim to tie urban and suburban economic growth to the proven resources of the rural workforce.

Wize Solutions’ facility is located in Abingdon, the gateway to southwest Virginia, a stunning region full of homegrown talent and beauty, but where economic growth has not met the area's significant potential. While traditionally many IT jobs have required a bachelor’s degree, Wize Solutions’ training programs will focus on teaching the core hard and soft skills necessary to provide quality IT support, and not on educational requirements that too often arbitrarily serve as a barrier to working class job seekers. This will allow Wize Solutions to create an alternative pathway into the information economy for the bulk of its workforce, focused on certification and apprenticeship. The credentials and credits employees earn will nevertheless be “stackable,” allowing for upward mobility in education and employment. For clients, this allows for high quality American IT support at a fraction of the cost of employing onsite in urban areas of the state while providing new employment and an economic boost to communities in dire need of diversified opportunities.

Wize Solutions intends to develop core competencies in a full range of IT functions, including cybersecurity, desktop support, data processing, quality assurance, product testing, and more, tailored to the specific needs of clients.
